2017–18 Wofford Terriers Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Wofford Terriers men's basketball team represented Wofford College during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Terriers, led by 16th-year head coach Mike Young, played their home games at the newly opened Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium in Spartanburg, South Carolina as members of the Southern Conference. They finished the season 21–13, 11–7 in SoCon play to finish in a tie for fourth place. They defeated Mercer in the quarterfinals of the SoCon tournament to advance to the semifinals where they lost to UNC Greensboro. They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where, after a first round bye, they lost in the second round to Central Michigan. Mike Young (basketball)
Michael Kent Young (born May 1, 1963) is an American college basketball coach and currently the head men's basketball coach at Virginia Tech. He was hired on April 7, 2019, after a 17-year stint where he went 299–244 () as the head coach at Wofford College. Career Born in Radford, Virginia, Young played collegiately at Emory & Henry College. After completing his career, which included serving as team captain during his junior and senior seasons, Young began his coaching career as an assistant coach at his alma mater. In 1988, he left Emory & Henry to serve one year as an assistant to Oliver Purnell at Radford University. In 1989, Young began his tenure as an assistant coach at Wofford. He would go on to spend the next 30 years at the school, helping to guide the Terriers in their transition from NCAA Division II, Division II to NCAA Division I, Division I independent status, and finally to a spot in the Southern Conference, where the Terriers compete today. Blythewood, South Carolina
Blythewood is a town in Richland and Fairfield counties, South Carolina, United States; and a suburb of Columbia. As of the 2020 United States census, the population of the town was 4,772. History Blythewood was originally named "Doko", a Native American term for a watering place. The town was named after Doko Depot, which was a stop along the railroad that ran between Charlotte and Columbia. In 1865, this railroad was destroyed by General Sherman. The town was rebuilt, and changed its name to Blythewood in 1877, after a local school called The Blythewood Female Institute. The school was later renamed "Blythewood Academy". The George P. Hoffman House, built in 1855, is the oldest extant house in Blythewood and is used as the city hall. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Marist School is a private Catholic school located in Brookhaven, Georgia, United States, north of the city of Atlanta, Georgia, Atlanta. Founded in 1901, it is operated independently of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta, Archdiocese of Atlanta. History Marist School was originally founded by the Society of Mary (Marists) in 1901, opening its doors on October 2 of that year. The school originated as the boys' military school Marist College High School, and was located in a three-story schoolhouse on Ivy Street, now called Peachtree Center Avenue, in downtown Atlanta. Arlington High School (Tennessee)
Arlington High School is a public high school located in Arlington, Tennessee, United States. It was started in 2004 and had an enrollment of 1,866 students in the 2023–24 school year. History The town of Arlington, lying within Shelby County, had been a low-population area since its establishment in 1883. However, in the 1990s, the area experienced rapid growth. As a result, the school system became overloaded, with Bolton High School in particular being over capacity. Community developers decided another high school was inevitable, and The Shelby County School Board of Education broke ground for the school, finishing just in time for the first class of 9th graders to enroll in 2004.
