2017–18 Western Michigan Broncos Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Western Michigan Broncos men's basketball team represented Western Michigan University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Broncos, led by 15th-year head coach Steve Hawkins, played their home games at University Arena as members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 17–15, 9–9 in MAC play to finish fourth in the West Division. As the No. 8 seed in the MAC tournament, they lost in the first round of the conference tournament to Akron. Previous season The Broncos finished the 2016–17 season 16–16, 11–7 in MAC play to tie for first in the West Division. As the No. 5 seed in the MAC tournament, they lost in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament to Ball State. Steve Hawkins
Stephen Greg Hawkins (born August 3, 1962) is an American college basketball coach. He is currently an assistant men's basketball coach for Southern Illinois University Carbondale, a position he has held since 2024. He had previously served as the head coach at Western Michigan University and Quincy University. Coaching career Early career Hawkins was born in Ventura, California. Following his graduation from high school, Hawkins spent time as a high school basketball coach in the Los Angeles area at Villanova Preparatory School and St. Bonaventure High School during the early 1980s. During this time he worked as an assistant at UCLA basketball camps, serving as chauffeur for legendary Bruins coach John Wooden. While the two were stuck in traffic, they were able to talk basketball. Marion High School (Indiana)
Marion High School is a high school in Marion, Indiana with more than 1,000 students. History Marion High School's first campus opened in September 1891. In 1902, the building burned to the ground. The next building stood for six years, being burned in 1908 in a possible arson attack. The second campus opened in 1910 on West Nelson Street where it would remain open until 1967. Marion High School's current campus opened in 1964 on 26th Street. The school was split into two campuses, North & South. The North campus held ninth graders, while the South campus held tenth through twelfth graders. But, the North campus was closed for the 1966–1967 school year. Linn-Mar High School is a public high school, part of the Linn-Mar Community School District. It serves students in grades 9 through 12 and is located in Marion, Iowa.
