2017–18 UTSA Roadrunners Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 UTSA Roadrunners men's basketball team represented the University of Texas at San Antonio during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Roadrunners, led by second-year head coach Steve Henson, played their home games at the Convocation Center as members of Conference USA. They finished the season 20–15, 11–7 in C-USA play to finish in fifth place. They defeated UTEP in the first round of the C-USA tournament before losing in the quarterfinals to Marshall. They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they defeated Lamar in the first round and received a second round bye before losing in the quarterfinals to Sam Houston State. Previous season The Roadrunners finished the 2016–17 season 14–19, 8–10 in C-USA play to finish in the ninth place. Steve Henson
Steven Michael Henson (born February 2, 1968) is an American basketball coach and former professional basketball player who is an assistant for Baylor University. He previously served as the head coach at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round (44th pick overall) of the 1990 NBA draft. He was an assistant basketball coach at the University of Oklahoma under his former college coach Lon Kruger. College career Henson played collegiately at Kansas State University, where he was named to the All-Big Eight Conference first team in 1989. He is Kansas State's all-time leader in assists, and remains in the top ten on the all-time NCAA career free throw percentage list, with a .900 mark. Cloud County Community College
Cloud County Community College is a public community college with campuses in Concordia and Junction City, Kansas. Concordia campus Cloud County Community College was founded in Concordia in 1965 and began classes in the Concordia Junior-Senior High School. The college moved to its present site in 1968. Deon Lyle
Deon Jay Lyle (born August 30, 1996) is an American professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Cloud CC Thunderbirds and the UTSA Roadrunners. In 2018, he played for the Chicago Ballers of the Junior Basketball Association (JBA). High school career The son of Arthur and Sarah Lyle, Deon has three brothers and one sister. He grew up in Hastings, Nebraska and learned to play basketball at the YMCA. Lyle played two seasons at Hastings High School in Nebraska. In his junior year, he transferred to Norton Community High School in Kansas. As a senior, he averaged 21.9 points, 8.8 boards, 2.7 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
