2017–18 Texas–Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Texas–Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball team represented the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Vaqueros, led by second-year head coach Lew Hill, played their home games at the UTRGV Fieldhouse as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 15–18, 6–8 in WAC play to finish in fifth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the WAC tournament to Seattle. They were invited to the College Basketball Invitational where they lost in the first round to New Orleans. Previous season The Vaqueros finished the 2016–17 season 10–22, 2–12 in WAC play to finish in seventh place. Lew Hill (basketball)
Lewis Daniel Hill (April 11, 1965 – February 7, 2021) was an American basketball coach. He was the head coach for the University of Texas–Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's basketball team. Playing career Hill, a 1983 graduate of Mount Vernon High School in the state of New York, began his college career at San Jacinto College where he helped the team win the 1984 NJCAA Division I men's basketball championship title, while also earning JUCO All-American honors. Hill completed his college career at Wichita State under Eddie Fogler, earning All-Missouri Valley Conference honors as a senior. In the 1988–89 season, Hill played professionally for DTV Charlottenburg in the German Basketball Bundesliga and in the FIBA Korać Cup. A car accident ended his playing days. Newbern, Alabama
Newbern is a town in Hale County, Alabama, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the town was 133. History The area was originally known as Cane Brake due to the large number of canebrakes in the area. The earliest known settler came to the area in 1816. The first grist mill was built in 1818, and the first store in 1829. F.A. Borden built the first post office in 1832, and became the first postmaster. Two of Borden's brothers came from North Carolina in 1834, and bought most of the land in the area. They organized a town named after New Bern, North Carolina. It incorporated in 1854. A railway running from Uniontown to Newbern started operation in 1859. The 9th Alabama Infantry Regiment was organized in the town in November 1861, to fight in the American Civil War. The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders men's basketball team is the basketball team that represents Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, United States.
