2017–18 SuperLiga Season
The 2017–18 SuperLiga (also known as the CEC Bank SuperLiga for sponsorship reasons) is the 104th season of premier club rugby in Romania. The current champions are SCM Rugby Timișoara, Timișoara Saracens who managed to defend their title by defeating CSM Știința Baia Mare, Știința Baia Mare. Since CS Politehnica Iași (rugby union), Politehnica Iași have faced financial issues, they will relegate to Divizia Națională de Seniori which means that both ACS Tomitanii Constanța, Tomitanii Constanța and SCM Gloria Buzău (rugby union), Gloria Buzău will replace them next season. Also Timișoara Saracens, the winners of the CEC Bank SuperLiga will participate in the European Rugby Continental Shield. Vasile Sorin Rus (born 21 October 1983 in Feldru ( Bistrița-Năsăud), Romania) is a retired Romanian rugby union footballer. He played as number eight. He was formed as a player at the U Cluj rugby club. He won the Romanian Rugby Cup once while at U Cluj and was twice runner-up with CSA Steaua București. Sosene Raymond Anesi (born 3 June 1981 in Apia, Samoa) is a former rugby union footballer who played as a fullback and wing and currently the head coach of Romania's current champions CS Dinamo București. Career Anesi came from Samoa to New Zealand in 2000 on a rugby scholarship arranged between St Joseph's College in Apia and St John's College in Hamilton. He made his National Provincial Championship debut for Waikato in 2003. He played for the Chiefs in the Super 14 up until 2007. He made his All Blacks debut from the bench in 2005 against Fiji at Albany, but did not play any further tests.
