2017–18 Southern Utah Thunderbirds Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Southern Utah Thunderbirds basketball team represented Southern Utah University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Thunderbirds were led by second-year head coach Todd Simon (basketball), Todd Simon and played their home games at the America First Events Center in Cedar City, Utah as members of the Big Sky Conference. They finished the season 13–19, 5–13 in Big Sky play to finish in tenth place. In the 2018 Big Sky Conference men's basketball tournament, Big Sky tournament they defeated 2017–18 Idaho State Bengals men's basketball team, Idaho State and 2017–18 Idaho Vandals men's basketball team, Idaho to advance to the semifinals where they lost to 2017–18 Eastern Washington Eagles men's basketball team, Eastern Washington. Todd Simon (basketball)
Todd Andrew Simon (born August 3, 1980) is an American college basketball coach who is the current head coach at Bowling Green State University. Early life and education Born in Fowler, Michigan, Simon graduated from Fowler High School in 1999 andCentral Michigan University in 2003 as a double major in sport studies and management information systems. He was on full academic scholarship as a recipient of Central Michigan's Centralis Scholarship. In 2010, Simon completed a master's degree in sport education leadership at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Simon suffers from Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a form of muscular dystrophy, a hereditary disorder.
