2017–18 Robert Morris Colonials Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Robert Morris Colonials men's basketball team represented Robert Morris University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Colonials, led by eighth-year head coach Andrew Toole, played their home games at the PPG Paints Arena and four games at the Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as members of the Northeast Conference. They finished the season 16–17, 9–9 in NEC play to finish in a tie for sixth place. As the No. 7 seed in the NEC tournament, they upset No. 2 seed Mount St. Mary's in the quarterfinals before losing in the semifinals to No. 1 seed Wagner. On January 30, 2017, Robert Morris announced plans to build a new basketball and volleyball facility named the UPMC Events Center on the school's campus. Andrew Toole
Andrew Toole (born September 11, 1980) is an American college basketball head coach for Robert Morris University. He has held that position since 2010 and is currently the 6th youngest head coach in Division I basketball. Toole had served as an assistant coach at Lafayette College and Robert Morris prior to accepting his first head coaching position. As a player, Toole played at Elon University before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania. Playing career Raised in Red Bank, New Jersey, Toole played high school basketball at Christian Brothers Academy, graduating in 1998. While at Penn, Toole helped guide the Quakers to consecutive NCAA tournament appearances in 2002 and 2003. He served as co-captain for the 2002-03 Quaker team that finished the regular season 22–6. 2017 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2017 Northeast Conference men's basketball tournament is the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Northeast Conference. The tournament is being held from March 1–7, 2017. All games of the tournament took place on campus sites hosted by the higher-seeded school. The winner, Mount St. Mary's, earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA tournament with a 71-61 win over St. Francis (PA) in the finals. Seeds For the 13th straight year, the NEC Men’s Basketball Tournament consists of an eight-team playoff format with all games played at the home of the higher seed. Oakdale is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,475 at the 2020 census. It is a suburb of Pittsburgh. History Oakdale Borough was incorporated in 1892. On May 18, 1918, a TNT explosion in a local chemical factory killed 200 people. On September 17, 2004, Oakdale was devastated by a flood resulting from the rain brought by the remnants of category 5 Hurricane Ivan.
