2017–18 Northern Iowa Panthers Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Northern Iowa Panthers men's basketball team represented the University of Northern Iowa during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Panthers, led by 12th-year head coach Ben Jacobson, played their home games at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa as members of the Missouri Valley Conference. They finished the season 16–16, 7–11 in 2017–18 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball season, MVC play to finish three-way tie for seventh place. As the No. 7 seed in the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball tournament, MVC tournament, they defeated 2017–18 Evansville Purple Aces men's basketball team, Evansville in the first round before losing to 2017–18 Loyola Ramblers men's basketball team, Loyola–Chicago in the quarterfinals. Ben Jacobson
Ben Scott Jacobson (born December 16, 1970) is an American basketball coach. He is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Northern Iowa, a position he has held since 2006. He served as an assistant at North Dakota Fighting Hawks men's basketball, North Dakota, North Dakota State Bison men's basketball, North Dakota State, and Northern Iowa Panthers men's basketball, Northern Iowa before taking over as head coach at Northern Iowa in 2006. Playing career Jacobson attended Mayville-Portland High School. After his senior year he was named 1989's North Dakota Mr. Basketball. Jacobson went on to play collegiately at the University of North Dakota from 1989 to 1993. He was a four-year letterman for the Sioux, a two-year starter, and he ended his career as the school's all-time assist leader. Marion, Iowa
Marion is a city in Linn County, Iowa, United States. The population was 26,294 at the 2000 census and was 41,535 in 2020, an increase of 58%. The city is located next to Cedar Rapids and part of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The town was named after Francis Marion, a hero of the Revolutionary War. Ankeny High School
Ankeny High School is a public high school located in Ankeny, Iowa, United States. It is part of the Ankeny Community School District, and serves grades 10 through 12. History AHS opened in 1913 and graduated six seniors in the spring of 1914. In August 2011, the school moved to a new location, which was built at a construction cost of about $54 million. Coralville, Iowa
Coralville is a city in Johnson County, Iowa, United States. It is a suburb of Iowa City and part of the Iowa City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 22,318 at the 2020 census. History Coralville is the location of the Edgewater Park Site, a 3,800-year-old archaeological site along the Iowa River. Edgewater is the oldest site in Iowa with evidence of domesticated plant use.
