2017–18 Magyar Kupa (men's Handball)
The 2017–18 Magyar Kupa (English: ''Hungarian Cup'') was the 78th season of Hungary's annual knock-out cup football competition. Újpest FC won the cup beating Puskás Akadémia FC in the final at the Groupama Aréna. The title-holders, Ferencvárosi TC, Ferencváros were eliminated in the second round by Kisvárda FC. The tournament was won by Újpest FC, Újpest. Main Tournament On 6 September 2017, it was announced that the Hungarian Football Federation will distribute 300 million Hungarian forint, HUF in the 2017–18 Magyar Kupa season. On 11 September the draw took place at the headquarters of the Hungarian Football Federation. This was the first draw in the 2017–18 season where Nemzeti Bajnokság I and Nemzeti Bajnokság II clubs were included. Újpest FC
Újpest Football Club () is a Hungary, Hungarian professional association football, football club based in Újpest, Budapest, that competes in Nemzeti Bajnokság I. Formed in 1885, Újpest reached the first division of the Hungarian League in Nemzeti Bajnokság I 1905, 1905 and has been relegated only once since then. The club has been a member of the first division for 108 consecutive years. Újpest have been Hungarian champions twenty times, in addition to winning the Magyar Kupa eleven times and the Szuperkupa three times. In international competitions, Újpest are two-times winners of the Mitropa Cup and winners of the 1930 Coupe des Nations. They also reached the semi-finals of the European Cup 1973–74 and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup 1961–62, and were runners-up in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup 1968–69.
