2017–18 Longwood Lancers Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Longwood Lancers men's basketball team represented Longwood University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by head coach Jayson Gee, in his fifth season, and played their home games at Willett Hall in Farmville, Virginia as members of the Big South Conference. They finished the season 7–26, 3–15 in Big South play to finish in last place. They defeated High Point in the first round of the Big South tournament to advance to the quarterfinals where they lost to Radford. On March 2, 2018, head coach Jayson Gee was fired. He finished at Longwood with a five-year record of 42–120. On March 22, the school hired UMBC assistant Griff Aldrich as head coach. Jayson Gee
Jayson Gee (born December 13, 1965) is an American men's college basketball coach who most recently served as an assistant coach under John Brannen at Cincinnati. He was formerly head coach at Longwood from 2013–2018. Prior to Longwood, Gee served as head coach of his alma mater Division II Charleston Golden Eagles and the associate head coach at Division I Cleveland State, Division I St. Bonaventure, and Division I Ohio.
