2017–18 Iona Gaels Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Iona Gaels men's basketball team represented Iona College (New York), Iona College during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Gaels, led by eighth-year head coach Tim Cluess, played their home games at the Hynes Athletic Center in New Rochelle, New York as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). They finished the season 20–14, 11–7 in 2017–18 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's basketball season, MAAC play, to finish in fourth place. As the No. 4 seed in the 2018 MAAC men's basketball tournament, 2018 MAAC tournament, they defeated 2017–18 Manhattan Jaspers basketball team, Manhattan, 2017–18 Saint Peter's Peacocks men's basketball team, Saint Peter's and 2017–18 Fairfield Stags men's basketball team, Fairfield, to become champions of the MAAC tournament for the third consecutive time. Tim Cluess
Timothy Michael Cluess (born March 9, 1959) is an American college basketball coach who most recently was the head men's basketball coach at Iona College (New York), Iona College. He is also a former head coach of LIU Post, Long Island University–C.W. Post. College playing career Born in Queens, New York (state), New York, Cluess played college basketball at St. John's (1979–81) and Hofstra (1982–83). Professional playing career Cluess played professionally in Europe and Australia. Coaching career High school Cluess was the head coach of St. Mary's High School (Manhasset, New York), Saint Mary's High School in Manhasset, New York for 14 seasons (1991–2005). Cluess's Gaels won four Class A Catholic High School Athletic Association, New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association (NYSCHSAA) championships and two New York state high school boys basketball championships, New York State Federation of Secondary Schools Athletic Associations (NYSFSSA) championships. ...
