2017–18 Hofstra Pride Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Hofstra Pride men's basketball team represented Hofstra University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Pride, led by fifth-year head coach Joe Mihalich, played their home games at Mack Sports Complex in Hempstead, New York as members of the Colonial Athletic Association. They finished the season 19–12, 12–6 in CAA play to finish in third place. They lost in the first round of the 2018 CAA men's basketball tournament, CAA tournament to 2017–18 UNC Wilmington Seahawks men's basketball team, UNC Wilmington. Previous season The 2016-17 Hofstra Pride men's basketball team, Pride finished the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, 2016–17 season 15–17, 7–11 in CAA play to finish in a tie for seventh place. Joe Mihalich
Joseph Anthony Mihalich (born August 29, 1956) is an American former college basketball coach and current Special Assistant to the Head Coach at La Salle University. Mihalich was previously the men's basketball head coach at Hofstra University from 2013–2021. Prior to that, he led Niagara to two NCAA tournaments, in 2005 and 2007, and three NIT Tournaments, in 2004, 2009 and 2013. He received the Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award in 2013. Career Assistant coach La Salle Mihalich spent 17 years, from 1981–1998, at his alma mater as an assistant coach under head coaches Dave “Lefty” Ervin and the legendary William “Speedy” Morris. Mihalich was a part of eight postseason appearances including five NCAA Tournament teams.
