2017–18 FC Porto Season
The 2017–18 FC Porto season was the club's List of FC Porto seasons, 108th competitive season and the Primeira Liga#All-time Primeira Liga table, 84th consecutive season in the Primeira Liga, top flight of Football in Portugal, Portuguese football. The season began on 9 August 2017 and concluded on 12 May 2018. Porto won the 2017–18 Primeira Liga title in the penultimate matchday following a draw between direct rivals S.L. Benfica, Benfica and Sporting CP. In doing so, they secured their first league title since the 2012–13 Primeira Liga, 2012–13 season and first overall title since the 2013 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira. 2018–19 FC Porto Season
The 2018–19 season was Futebol Clube do Porto's 109th competitive season and 85th consecutive season in the top flight of Portuguese football. It began on 4 August 2018 and concluded on 25 May 2019. Porto started the season with a 3–1 victory in the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira against the 2017–18 Taça de Portugal holders, Desportivo das Aves, which secured the club's 21st Supertaça win and first since 2013. Porto led the 2018–19 Primeira Liga for more than half of the season, but lost it to Benfica on 2 March 2019, after a 1–2 home defeat. Futebol Clube do Porto B, commonly known as Porto B, is a Portuguese professional football team, which serves as the reserve side of FC Porto. They compete in the Liga Portugal 2, the second division of Portuguese football, and play their home matches at the CTFD PortoGaia main pitch. As a reserve side, the team cannot compete in the same division as their senior team, thus being ineligible for promotion to the Primeira Liga. In association football, a penalty shoot-out (previously known as kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a tie (draw), draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as Overtime (sports)#Association football, extra time (if used) has expired. For example, in a FIFA World Cup, penalties are used in elimination matches; the round of 32, the round of 16, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, and the final (competition), final. The 2013 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira was the 35th edition of the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, the annual Portuguese football season-opening match contested by the winners of the previous season's top league and cup competitions (or cup runner-up in case the league- and cup-winning club is the same). The 2012–13 Primeira Liga (also known as Liga ZON Sagres for sponsorship reasons) was the 79th season of the Primeira Liga, the top professional league for Portuguese association football clubs.
