2017–18 Birmingham City F.C. Season
The 2017–18 season is Birmingham City Football Clubs 115th season in the English football league system and seventh consecutive season in the second-tier Championship. For the second season running, they finished in 19th place after going into the final day still in danger of relegation. As with all English Football League clubs, the first team also competed in the FA Cup, in which they lost in a fourth-round replay to Huddersfield Town, and in the EFL Cup, from which they were eliminated by AFC Bournemouth in the second round. After a poor start to the season, with only one win from the first eight matches, and only two weeks after the close of the transfer window, during which he was allowed to bring in 13 new players, Harry Redknapp was sacked as manager. Lukas Jutkiewicz
Lukas Isaac Paul Jutkiewicz (born 28 March 1989) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. He previously played for Swindon Town, Everton, Plymouth Argyle, Huddersfield Town, Motherwell, Coventry City, Middlesbrough, Bolton Wanderers and Burnley and Birmingham City. Club career Jutkiewicz was born in Southampton, and joined the Saints Academy as a ten-year-old after playing Tyro League football with Eastleigh Earls and Winsor. He attended Highfield Primary School and also attended The Mountbatten School in Romsey. After three years at the academy, he left but continued to play Tyro League football with Brendon Youth, before signing for Swindon Town. St Andrew's (stadium)
St Andrew's, known since 2024 for sponsorship reasons as St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park, is an association football stadium in the Bordesley district of Birmingham, England. It has been the home ground of Birmingham City Football Club for more than a century. From 2018 to 2021, its sponsored name was St Andrew's Trillion Trophy Stadium. Constructed and opened in 1906 to replace the Muntz Street ground, which had become too small to meet the club's needs, the original St Andrew's could hold an estimated 75,000 spectators, housed in one grandstand and a large uncovered terrace. Between 1906 and 1939 it was reported that a lot of construction work took place inside the ground and the official capacity was set at 68,000 at the start of the 1938-39 season. Birmingham City Football Club
Birmingham City Football Club is a professional football club based in Birmingham, England. Formed in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance, it was renamed Small Heath in 1888, Birmingham in 1905, and Birmingham City in 1943. Burton Albion Football Club is a professional association football club in the town of Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, England. The team competes in League One, the third level of the English football league system. The club moved its home ground in 2005 to the Pirelli Stadium from Eton Park. Samuel James Gallagher (born 15 September 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker for club Stoke City. Originally a member of the Plymouth Argyle youth academy, Gallagher joined Southampton in 2012 and earned a call-up to the first team at the beginning of the 2013–14 season. He spent time out on loan at Milton Keynes Dons, Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City before he joined Blackburn on a permanent basis in July 2019. 2017–18 EFL Cup
The 2017–18 EFL Cup was the 58th season of the EFL Cup. The competition was open to all 92 clubs participating in the Premier League and the English Football League. It was known as the Carabao Cup due to the start of a sponsorship deal with Carabao Energy Drinks after the tournament was unsponsored the previous year.
