The 2017–18 Biathlon World Cup (BWC) was a multi-race series over a season of biathlon, organised by the International Biathlon Union. The season started on 24 November 2017 in Östersund, Sweden and ended on 25 March 2018 in Tyumen, Russia. Lisa Vittozzi
Lisa Vittozzi (born 4 February 1995) is an Italian biathlete. She competes in the Biathlon World Cup, Vittozzi has won a bronze medal at the Biathlon World Championships 2015 in Kontiolahti (4 × 6 km relay). At the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics she won the bronze medal in the Mixed relay. Vittozzi is the overall winner of the Biathlon World Cup 2023/24 season. Anaïs Bescond
Anaïs Bescond (born 15 May 1987) is a retired French biathlete, olympic champion and world champion. She is also a non-commissioned officer. Career Bescond was born in Aunay-sur-Odon. She moved to Morbier, in the Jura region, with her family and began skiing. She competed at the Biathlon World Championships 2011, and won a silver medal in the relay with the French team, a result repeated at the Biathlon World Championships 2012. She won her first victory on the World Cup biathlon sprint at Antholz-Anterselva, played on 16 January 2014. Bescond competed in the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics for France. Her best performance was two 5th places in the individual and sprint. Ekaterina Yurlova-Percht
Ekaterina Viktorovna Yurlova-Percht (; born 23 February 1985) is a former Russian biathlete. She debuted at the World Cup in 2008. In 2015, she won World Championships at 15 km individual distance, which was her first victory at the World Cup. On 17 October 2015, Yurlova married Josef Percht, masseur of the Austrian biathlon team. Since then she is known as Yurlova-Percht. On 13 November 2016, she gave birth to Kira. Dorothea Wierer (, ; born 3 April 1990) is an Italian biathlete competing in the Biathlon World Cup. Together with Karin Oberhofer, Dominik Windisch and Lukas Hofer she won a bronze medal in the Mixed relay at the 2014 Winter Olympics, in Sochi, Russia. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea she won again the bronze medal in the Mixed relay with Lisa Vittozzi, Lukas Hofer and Dominik Windisch. At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, she won her first individual medal in the Sprint. She is the 2019 Mass Start World Champion and the 2020 Pursuit and Individual World Champion. The 2017–18 Biathlon World Cup – Stage 9 is the 9th and final event of the season and was held in Tyumen, Russia, from 22 until 25 March 2018. Boycott of the event The Canadian team announced on 15 December that they will boycott the event after the IBU decided to keep the event in Tyumen. This was followed up by the delegations from the United States and Czech Republic as well as individual boycotts from Sebastian Samuelsson from Sweden and Klemen Bauer from Slovenia. Due to the ongoing crisis in Donbass Ukraine also boycotted the event.
