2017 Women's Challenge Cup
The 2017 RFL Women's Challenge Cup was an English rugby league knockout tournament competed for by 16 teams during the summer of 2017. The competition was won by Bradford Bulls who beat Featherstone Rovers 50–18 in the final on 30 July 2017. Bradford Bulls Women
The Bradford Bulls Women are an English professional women's rugby league team based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. Formed in 1999 as an autonomous club, Dudley Hill Thunderbirds, the team was also known as Bradford Thunderbirds and Bradford Clayton Thunderbirds. As the Thunderbirds the club played in the Women's Rugby League Conference and later the Women's Rugby League. History 1999–2011: Origins The club were founded in 1999 as Dudley Hill Thunderbirds to partner the men's Dudley Hill team. Later on the Thunderbirds and Dudley Hill split and became Bradford Clayton Thunderbirds to reflect playing in the Clayton area of Bradford and later just becoming Bradford Thunderbirds. Since there was no official league for many years they played sporadic fixtures until leagues started being formed such as the Women's Rugby League Conference in 2008 which gave the Thunderbirds and women's rugby league more competitive games. Featherstone Rovers Women
Featherstone Rovers are a women's rugby league club from Featherstone, West Yorkshire, England, who play in Group 2 of the RFL Women's Super League. They play their home games at Post Office Road which is also home to the Featherstone Rovers men's team. History The Featherstone Rovers women's team was founded in 2011 and competed in the Women's Rugby League Conference for their first three seasons. The club, which had previously been the Wakefield Panthers, included numerous England internationals and were one of the most successful women's teams of the previous twenty years having won the Women's Amateur Rugby League Association Challenge Cup 14 times between 1991 and 2007. York Valkyrie
The York Valkyrie are the women's rugby league team of York RLFC (known as York City Knights from 2002 to 2022) based in York, England. The Valkyrie, who were established in 2016 as the York City Knights Ladies, compete in the Women's Super League and play their home games at York Community Stadium which is also home to the York RLFC men's team, the York Knights, and football club, York City F.C. History In May 2016 the York City Knights Ladies team was launched in partnership with the Knights Foundation. Barrow Raiders Ladies
The Barrow Raiders Ladies are the women's rugby League team of Barrow Raiders from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England. They compete in the Women's Super League, and play their home games at Craven Park. Before taking the Barrow Raiders name the team were called the Barrow Island Ladies. History In 2016, Barrow Ladies played in the Merit League and were based at Barrow Island ARLFC. They initially had difficulty in finding opponents as many of their games were cancelled. Barrow had previously had a women's team that had included Great Britain internationals such as Lindsay Anfield, Sally Milburn and Allie and Liz Kitchin, but by 2016 it had been more than ten years since Barrow had last played a competitive home fixture. British Army Rugby League
The British Army Rugby League team is the official rugby league team representing the British Army. The team was founded in 1994 when the Army first recognised rugby league as an official sport and lifted a ban on it. The new team was able to play in the Challenge Cup. The team play their home matches at Aldershot Military Stadium in Aldershot, Hampshire. An Army women's team was set up in 2008. Wakefield Trinity Ladies
Wakefield Trinity Ladies are a women's rugby league team based in Wakefield, England. They were founded in 2016 and compete in the RFL Women's Championship. Between 2018 and 2022 they played in the Super League. History In July 2016, it was announced that the women's team for Wakefield Trinity was being established and would be based at Sharlston Rovers ARLFC for its home ground and that this would also provide its training facilities. They were the first women's team to be linked with a men's Super League team and this came with the benefit that the team could play some of its matches as double headers for the men's team at Belle Vue stadium. The Castleford Tigers Women are a female rugby league club in Castleford, West Yorkshire, England, that competes in the Women's Super League, the top-level Women's rugby league club competition in the United Kingdom. Thatto Heath Crusaders is an amateur rugby league club situated in Thatto Heath, St Helens, Merseyside. The club currently competes in the National Conference League Premier Division History ''Thatto Heath'' RLFC began life in 1981, originally formed by ex-St Helens R.F.C. player Frankie Barrow. The team began competing in the North West Counties 4th Division, and the ‘A’ Team entered Division 5. Amy Hardcastle
Amy Hardcastle (born 4 March 1989) is an English rugby league player who plays at for St Helens in the Betfred Women's Super League. Born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, Hardcastle first played rugby league for Siddal before taking time away from the game after having her daughter. On her return Siddal had disbanded their women's team so Hardcastle joined Bradford Bulls. Over the next 10 years Hardcastle experienced considerable success as Bradford won the league title twice and the Challenge Cup once. In 2020 Hardcastle left Bradford to join St Helens but did not make her first appearance for St Helens until 2021 as the 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In her first full season with St Helens, Hardcastle scored 23 tries in just 13 appearances.
