2017 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship
The 2017 IMSA SportsCar Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship) was the 47th season of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) GT Championship that traces its lineage to the 1971 IMSA GT Championship. It was the fourth season of the United SportsCar Championship and second under the name as the IMSA SportsCar Championship. It began on 28 January with the 24 Hours of Daytona, and ended on 7 October with the Petit Le Mans. 2017 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge
The 2017 Continental Tire SportsCar Championship is the eighteenth season of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge and the fourth season organized by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). Classes The class structure remains unchanged from 2016. However, cars homologated to the FIA-certified Group GT4 regulations are eligible to race in the GS category alongside original GS cars. Schedule The schedule remains unchanged, aside from the dates at Circuit of the Americas and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca switching. The Detroit Belle Isle Street Circuit was a former street circuit opened in 1992, located in Belle Isle Park in Detroit. The circuit hosted Detroit Grand Prix and Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix in various championships, such as IndyCar Series, IMSA SportsCar Championship, Championship Auto Racing Teams, Rolex Sports Car Series and American Le Mans Series. The Detroit Grand Prix (currently branded as the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear Corporation for sponsorship reasons) is an IndyCar Series race weekend held on a temporary circuit in Detroit, Michigan. The race has been held from 1989 to 2001, 2007 to 2008, and since 2012. Since 2012, the event has been scheduled for the weekend immediately following the Indianapolis 500. The origins of the event date back to the Formula One Detroit Grand Prix on the Detroit street circuit. The CART series began headlining the event in 1989, and in 1992, the race moved from downtown Detroit to Belle Isle, a park situated on an island in the Detroit River, which is the longest serving venue of the race. The Lone Star Le Mans (previously known as 6 Hours of the Circuit of the Americas) is an endurance race for Le Mans Prototypes and grand tourer-style cars held at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
