2017 Vuelta A Andalucía
The 2017 Vuelta a Andalucía was a road cycling stage race that took place in Andalusia between 15 and 19 February 2017. The race was rated as a 2.HC event as part of the 2017 UCI Europe Tour, and was the 63rd edition of the Vuelta a Andalucía. The five-stage race was won for a record-extending fifth time – in six years – by Alejandro Valverde of the , taking the 100th victory of his professional career in the process. Valverde won the opening stage of the race, and after losing the lead to 's Alberto Contador the following day, Valverde re-assumed the lead of the race by finishing second to Victor Campenaerts () in the third stage time trial; Valverde was able to maintain a lead of one second over Contador for the remainder of the race. The podium was completed by Thibaut Pinot, who finished five seconds further back in third place for the team. 2017 UCI Europe Tour
The 2017 UCI Europe Tour was the thirteenth season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2017 season began on 26 January 2017 with the Vuelta a Mallorca, Trofeo Santanyí-Ses Salines-Campos and ended on 17 October 2017 with the Nationale Sluitingsprijs. Belgium, Belgian rider Baptiste Planckaert (), who scored 1,605 points in the 2016 UCI Europe Tour, 2016 edition, was the defending champion of the UCI Europe Tour. Nacer Bouhanni () won the overall standings for the second time in three years; won the team classification, while France won both the overall nations' title and the under-23 equivalent. Wouter Lambertus Martinus Henricus Poels (born 1 October 1987) is a Dutch professional road bicycle racer, who rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Poels was born in Venray. He almost lost a kidney after a massive crash on 2012 Tour de France, Prologue to Stage 10#Stage 6, the sixth stage of the 2012 Tour de France. After competing with the squad since 2009, Poels moved to the squad for the 2014 season. Team Sky (2015–19) In September 2014, announced that Poels would join them from 1 January 2015. His first win for the team came in the 2015 Tirreno–Adriatico, where he led the team following the withdrawal of Chris Froome. Poels won stage 4 into Castelraimondo with an attack on the final climb and a solo descent to the finish line.
