2017 Virginia Cavaliers Men's Soccer Team
The 2017 Virginia Cavaliers men's soccer team represented University of Virginia during the 2017 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. The Cavaliers were led by head coach George Gelnovatch, in his twenty-second season. They play home games at Klöckner Stadium. This was the team's 77th season playing organized men's college soccer and their 64th playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference. George Gelnovatch
George Gelnovatch (born February 12, 1965) is the men's soccer coach at the University of Virginia. He played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League and American Professional Soccer League. As head coach, he has led Virginia men's soccer to the College Cup Final Four in 1997, 2006, 2009, 2013, 2014, and 2019. Under his leadership, Virginia won its sixth and seventh NCAA National Championships of the sport in 2009 and 2014. Player Gelnovatch grew up in Wall Township, New Jersey and played soccer at Wall High School, where he was part of three state champion teams. He attended the University of Virginia, playing on the men's soccer team from 1983 to 1986. He was a 1986 First Team All American. Terry Boss
Terrence Boss (born September 1, 1981) is a retired professional soccer goalkeeper and a collegiate soccer coach. Career College and Amateur Boss played college soccer for the University of Tulsa from 2000–2004, starting 20 games, and also featured for Cascade Surge, Vermont Voltage and Fort Wayne Fever in the USL Premier Development League. Professional Boss began his professional career in the 2005 season with the Charlotte Eagles in the USL Second Division. In 2006, he moved to the Puerto Rico Islanders in the USL First Division, serving as the club's backup goalkeeper. In 2008 Boss returned to Charlotte and was the starting goalkeeper for a team that finished in first place in USL2, before losing in the league's title game to the Cleveland City Stars. He led USL-2 in wins (11) and shutouts (9). He was named the USL2's Goalkeeper of the Year for 2008. Syracuse Orange is the NCAA college soccer team for Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. They are a Division I (NCAA), Division I team in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Hofstra Pride (formerly the Hofstra Flying Dutchmen) are composed of 17 teams representing Hofstra University in intercollegiate athletics, including men and women’s basketball, cross-country running, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis and track and field. Men’s sports include baseball and wrestling. Women’s sports include volleyball, field hockey, and softball.
