The Men's madison was held on 22 October 2017. 18 teams participated over a distance of 50 km (200 laps), with sprints every 10 laps awarding 5, 3, 2 or 1 point to the first four (double in the final sprint); 20 points are also awarded/withdrawn for each lap gained/lost respectively. UEC European Champion Jersey
The UEC European Champion jersey is the distinctive, identifiable cycling jersey, jersey that the winner of a bicycle racing, bicycle race receives at European Cycling Championships organized by the Union Européenne de Cyclisme, European Cycling Union (UEC), such as the European Road Championships and the European Track Championships. The jersey is predominantly blue with gold European stars. The jerseys are awarded in all cycling disciplines, including road bicycle racing, road cycling, track cycling, cyclo-cross, BMX, mountain biking and indoor cycling. Mark Downey
Mark Downey (born 3 July 1996) is an Irish road and track cyclist, who currently rides for French amateur team Côtes d'Armor–Marie Morin–Véranda Rideau. As a junior he competed at the 2014 UCI Road World Championships in the Men's junior time trial and also at the 2015 UCI Road World Championships in the Men's junior time trial. On the track he competed at the 2015 UEC European Track Championships in the points race and team pursuit. He won the gold medal at the 2016–17 UCI Track Cycling World Cup, Round 2 in Apeldoorn in the points race. He also won the third round of the World Cup points race held in Cali, Colombia following that event he picked up a silver in the madison with his teammate Felix English. Concluding his 2017 World Cup campaign Downey won the madison in LA round 4 and was overall series winner in the points race. Christopher Latham
Christopher Jack Latham (born 6 February 1994) is an English cyclist from Bolton, who most recently rode for UCI Continental team . In 2015 he won the bronze medal in the elimination race at the 2015 UEC European Track Championships in Grenchen, Switzerland. Career He spent three seasons riding for the team before joining for 2018. Latham joined for the 2019 season. He remained with the team until the end of the 2020 season, when he joined for the 2021 season. At the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, France, Latham represented Great Britain as he competed as the sighted pilot for Stephen Bate in the men's pursuit B. The pair set a new world record in qualifying to reach the gold medal final. However, previous world record holders Tristan Bangma and Patrick Bos of the Netherlands retook the world record in their qualifying run and went on to beat Bate and Latham in the final, meaning the British pair won a silver medal.
