2015 IWBF Men's European Championship
The 2015 IWBF Men's European Championship was the 22nd edition of the European Wheelchair Basketball Championship held in Worcester, Great Britain from 28 August to 6 September 2015. The tournament also took place during the women's European championship as well. Twelve teams entered the tournament with the Czech Republic and Israel competing in the tournament after being promoted from Division B in 2014. The teams were separated into two groups of six with the top four teams from each group qualifying through to the knockout stage while the bottom two competed to stay off relegation. The remaining eight teams competed in a knockout format until the top two teams made the final. In the gold medal match, Great Britain won the match 87-66 over Turkey. While in the bronze medal match, Germany defeated the Netherlands 74-56. Özgür Gürbulak (born 30 April 1981) is a Turkish wheelchair basketball player and Paralympian. He is a 4 point player competing for Galatasaray Wheelchair Basketball Team, Galatasaray Wheelchair Basketball, and is part of Turkey men's national wheelchair basketball team. Özgür played in the national team, which qualified to the Turkey at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, 2012 Summer Olympics. Abdi Jama (born 1 November 1982) is a Somali British wheelchair basketball player. He was born in Burao, northwestern Somaliland and lives in Liverpool. He was selected to play for Team GB in the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. Personal life Jama was born on 1 November 1982 in Burao, in northwestern Somalia. He lives in Liverpool, England and has 6 brothers and sisters. His family moved from Somalia to Toxteth in Liverpool due to the wars in Somalia. As a child, Jama was left paralysed at the age of 14. He thought that he could not have a sporting career, until he was introduced to wheelchair basketball by Ade Orogbemi.
