2017 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 2017 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 130th edition of the Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament since its establishment in 1887. Thirty-three teams took part – thirty-one of the thirty-two Counties of Ireland (Kilkenny GAA, Kilkenny, as in previous years, do not enter), London GAA, London and New York GAA, New York. Dublin won their third championship in a row, defeating Mayo in the 2017 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final, final on 17 September 2017 by 1–17 to 1–16. The Leinster Council is a Province (Gaelic games)#Provincial councils, provincial council of the Gaelic Athletic Association sports of hurling, Gaelic football, camogie, rounders and Gaelic handball, handball in the province of Leinster. The Leinster Council has been partnered with the Gaelic Games Europe, European County Board to help develop Gaelic Games in Europe. 2016 Leinster Senior Football Championship
The 2016 Leinster Senior Football Championship was the 2016 installment of the annual Leinster Senior Football Championship held under the auspices of Leinster GAA. The competition ran from 14 May 2016 to 17 July 2016. Dublin came into the competition as the defending champions, having won their 54th title and completed a 5-in-a-row the previous season. The draw for the championship was made on 16 October 2015. As in the previous two seasons, the two sides were named as A and B, to allow for teams to more easily predict the dates of their qualifier matches. Carlow, Dublin, Laois, Louth, Meath and Wicklow were named to the A side, with Kildare, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath and Wexford on the B side. The flag of the Irish province of Leinster is a banner with the provincial coat of arms: a gold Irish harp with silver strings on a green field (blazon: ''vert a harp or stringed argent''). Sligo GAA
The Sligo County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) () or Sligo GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Sligo. The county board is also responsible for the Sligo county teams. The county football team plays in the Connacht Senior Football Championship but has only won three senior provincial titles, in 1928, 1975 and 2007. Sligo has never appeared in an All-Ireland final. The 1922 Championship is the closest it has come, defeating Roscommon, Mayo and Galway to win the Connacht title, and beating Tipperary in the subsequent All-Ireland semi-final that followed. 2016 Connacht Senior Football Championship
The 2016 Connacht Senior Football Championship will be the 117th installment of the annual Connacht Senior Football Championship held under the auspices of Connacht GAA. It is one of the four provincial competitions of the 2016 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. Mayo entered the competition as defending champions but were beaten by Galway in the semi-finals. Galway went on to win their first title in eight years by beating Roscommon after a replay. Due to Covid-19 it's still last meeting of Mayo hosting London and Roscommon day for a New York there 2021 meetings were both cancelled before the draws had taken place the next time we will see those rotational fixtures will possibly in the 2026 season. In sport, a bye is the preferential status of a player or team that is automatically advanced to the next round of a tournament without having to play an opponent in an early round. In knockout (elimination) tournaments, byes may be assigned either to reward the highest ranked participant(s), or randomly, to make a working bracket if the number of participants is not a power of two (e.g. 16 or 32). In round-robin tournaments, usually one competitor gets a bye in each round when there are an odd number of competitors, as it is impossible for all competitors to play in the same round. A double-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament competition in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost ''two'' games or matches.
