2017–18 Kent State Golden Flashes Women's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Kent State Golden Flashes women's basketball team represented Kent State University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Golden Flashes, led by second-year head coach Todd Starkey, played their home games at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center, also known as the MAC Center, as members of the East Division of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). They finished the season 13–19, 5–13 in MAC play, to finish in fourth place in the West Division. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2018 MAC women's basketball tournament, MAC women's tournament where they lost to 2017–18 Buffalo Bulls women's basketball team, Buffalo. Previous season The Flashes finished the 2016–17 regular season with a 19–11 overall record, and 13–5 in MAC play. Todd Starkey
Todd Starkey (born June 5, 1971) is an American basketball coach who is currently the head women's basketball coach at Kent State University. Career He was previously an assistant coach at Indiana University Bloomington and was also the head women's basketball coach at Lenoir–Rhyne University from 2005 to 2014, where he won a national coach of the year award in 2009. Lincoln High School (Gahanna, Ohio)
Gahanna-Lincoln High School is a public high school in Gahanna, Ohio, United States. It is in the Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools district. It is one of the largest high schools in Greater Columbus, and was established in 1928. History The original building was a one-room schoolhouse, which was established in 1928 in the area of what is now the Lincoln Hall. Multiple changes, tweaks, and additions have been made to the structure of the school, notably the construction of Hamilton (1963) and Clark (2011) halls. The name "Gahanna-Lincoln" is a result of an early struggle between the city of Gahanna and Jefferson Township. Gahanna is a city in northeastern Franklin County, Ohio, United States. It is a suburb of Columbus. The population was 35,726 at the 2020 census. It was founded in 1849. History Gahanna was founded along the Big Walnut Creek in 1849 by John Clark of Ross County from of land that his father, Joseph Clark, had purchased from Governor Worthington in 1814. Clark named his property the Gahanna Plantation, from which the City of Gahanna derives its name. The name Gahanna is derived from a Native American word for three creeks joining into one and is the former name of the Big Walnut Creek.
