2017–18 Cal State Northridge Matadors Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Cal State Northridge Matadors men's basketball team represented California State University, Northridge (also known as CSUN) during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Matadors, led by fifth-year head coach Reggie Theus, played their home games at the Matadome as members of the Big West Conference. They finished season 6–24, and 3–13 in Big West play and finished in last place. They failed to qualify for the Big West tournament. On March 6, 2018, the school fired head coach Reggie Theus, along with Athletic Director Brandon Martin following a heated verbal exchange between the two following the dismissal of Theus. On March 13, the school hired former NC State coach Mark Gottfried as head coach. Previous season The Matadors finished the 2016–17 season 11–19, 7–9 in Big West play to finish in sixth place. Reggie Theus
Reginald Wayne Theus (born October 13, 1957) is an American basketball coach and former player. He played 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), where he was a two-time NBA All-Star. He is currently the men's basketball head coach and athletic director at Bethune–Cookman. He was the head coach for the NBA's Sacramento Kings and in college with the New Mexico State Aggies and the Cal State Northridge Matadors men's teams. He was also an assistant coach for the Louisville Cardinals under Rick Pitino. Early life Theus was one of four children of Felix and Willie Mae Theus. His parents divorced when he was four. His father had a janitorial business and died before Reggie's senior year in high school. For a brief period, Reggie ran his father's business after his death. East Los Angeles College (ELAC) is a public community college in Monterey Park, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. Salem International University
Salem University is a private for-profit university in Salem, West Virginia. It has about 250 students on campus and about 600 online students that are enrolled in undergraduate as well as graduate programs. The university was founded by the Seventh Day Baptist Church in 1888.
