The 2016–17 Western Sydney Wanderers FC season was the club's fifth season since its establishment in 2012. The club participated in the A-League for the fifth time, the FFA Cup for the third time and the AFC Champions League for the third time. The Australia Cup (currently known as the Hahn Australia Cup for sponsorship reasons) is the national soccer knockout cup competition in Australia. This annual competition is organised by Football Australia (known as Football Federation Australia until 2020). The Australia Cup comprises teams from the top division, A-League Men (known as simply the A-League before the 2021–22 season), as well as those from lower tiers in the Australian soccer league system. Bruno Piñatares Prieto (born 25 June 1990) is a Uruguayan footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Paraguayan club Guaraní. Club career Early career Born in Montevideo, Piñatares began his career with Baby Fútbol Dryco. He later played for Nacional before joining Rentistas, where he finished his formation. Piñatares made his first team debut 2007, at the age of 16; his side was eventually relegated from Primera División at the end of the campaign. Scott Neville (born 11 January 1989) is a retired professional soccer player who played as a defender. Born in England, he represented Australia at youth level. Dimas Delgado Morgado (born 6 February 1983), known simply as Dimas, is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder, currently assistant manager of Indian Super League club East Bengal.
