2016–17 USC Trojans Women's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 USC Trojans women's basketball team represented University of Southern California during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Trojans, led by fourth year head coach Cynthia Cooper-Dyke, played their home games at the Galen Center and were members of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 14–16, 5–13 in Pac-12 play, to finish in a four-way tie for ninth place. They lost in the first round 2017 Pac-12 Conference women's basketball tournament, Pac-12 women's basketball tournament to California. On March 3, Cynthia Cooper-Duke resigned. She finished at USC with a four-year record of 70–57. Cynthia Cooper-Dyke
Cynthia Lynne Cooper-Dyke (born April 14, 1963) is an American basketball coach and former player who has won championships in college, in the Basketball at the Summer Olympics, Olympics, and in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She is considered to be one of the greatest female basketball players ever. Upon the WNBA's formation, she played for the Houston Comets from 1997 to 2000, being named the WNBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award, Most Valuable Player of the WNBA Finals in four straight seasons. Cooper served as the coach of the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA from 2001-2002. Piedmont is a census-designated place (CDP) along the Saluda River in Anderson and Greenville counties in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The population was 5,411 at the 2020 census. Piedmont is a part of the Greenville-Anderson metropolitan area. History Native Americans and early settlers of Piedmont called the area "Big Shoals of the Saluda" after the Saluda River. The Native Americans used the shoals as a crossing. David Garrison established a grist mill around 1850 upon the shoals changing the name of the area to Garrison Shoals.
