2016–17 Tulane Green Wave Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Tulane Green Wave men's basketball team represented Tulane University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Green Wave, led by first-year head coach Mike Dunleavy Sr., played their home games at Devlin Fieldhouse in New Orleans, Louisiana as third-year members of the American Athletic Conference. They finished the season 6–25, 3–15 in AAC play to finish in tenth place. They lost in the first round of the AAC tournament to Tulsa. Previous season The Green Wave finished the season 12–22, 3–15 in American Athletic play to finish in last place. They defeated UCF and Houston in the American Athletic tournament to advance to the semifinals where they lost to Memphis. Following the season, Tulane fired head coach Ed Conroy. Mike Dunleavy Sr
Michael Joseph Dunleavy Sr. (born March 21, 1954) is an American former professional basketball player, coach, and former general manager of the National Basketball Association's Los Angeles Clippers. He was most recently the head coach of the Tulane University men's basketball team. Dunleavy is the father of former professional basketball player Mike Dunleavy Jr. Early life Dunleavy was born in Brooklyn, New York. His primary education was at Holy Cross. He attended Nazareth Regional High School in Brooklyn, then graduated from the University of South Carolina, where he played under coach Frank McGuire. Brother Martin High School is a private, Catholic, all-boys college preparatory school run by the United States Province of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans. History The school was founded by the brothers in 1869 as St. Aloysius College. The Vanderbilt Commodores men's basketball team represents Vanderbilt University in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Commodores have won three SEC regular-season titles (1965, 1974 and 1993) and two SEC Tournament championships (1951 and 2012). They have competed in 15 NCAA Tournaments, making it to the Elite Eight once (1965) and the Sweet Sixteen six times (1965, 1974, 1988, 1993, 2004, and 2007).
