2016–17 Towson Tigers Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Towson Tigers men's basketball team represented Towson University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Tigers, led by sixth year head coach Pat Skerry, played their home games at SECU Arena in Towson, Maryland as members of the Colonial Athletic Association. They finished the season 20–13, 11–7 in CAA play to finish in third place. They defeated Northeastern in the quarterfinals of the CAA tournament to advance to the semifinals where they lost to College of Charleston. Despite a 20 win season, the Tigers declined to participate in a postseason tournament. Pat Skerry
Patrick Joseph Skerry (born January 21, 1970) is the head coach of the Towson Tigers men's basketball, Towson University Tigers men's basketball team. Biography Playing career Skerry played collegiate basketball at Tufts University where he set the school record for career assists (634) and single-season assists (198). Coaching career After graduation, Skerry joined his alma mater's coaching staff, where he spent three seasons before moving on to Stonehill College for the 1995–96 season. A year later he took his first head coaching job at Curry College at the age of 26. In two seasons at the helm of the Colonials, Skerry compiled a 24–25 record. Justin Terrell Gorham (born August 6, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for Derthona Basket of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). He played college basketball for the Towson Tigers and the Houston Cougars. High school career Gorham attended Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Maryland. A three-star recruit, he committed to playing college basketball for Towson. He was drawn to the program in part due to its proximity, allowing him to be close to his father, who had been diagnosed with duodenal cancer. College career As a freshman at Towson, Gorham averaged 2.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. He averaged 9.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game as a sophomore, despite playing through an ankle sprain.
