2016–17 South Florida Bulls Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 South Florida Bulls men's basketball team represented the University of South Florida during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The season marked the 46th basketball season for USF and the fourth as a member of the American Athletic Conference. They were led by interim head coach Murry Bartow. The Bulls played their home games at the USF Sun Dome on the university's Tampa, Florida campus. The Bulls finished the season 7–23, 1–17 in AAC play to finish in last place. As the No. 11 seed in the AAC tournament, they lost in the first round to UConn. The Bulls were led by head coach Orlando Antigua for the first 13 games of the season until he was fired amid academic fraud allegations. On March 14, 2017, the school hired Brian Gregory as the next head coach. Orlando Antigua
Orlando Radhames Antigua Fernández (born February 20, 1973), nicknamed "Hurricane", is a Dominican-American basketball coach and former player who is currently the associate head coach at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He was also an assistant there from 2017 to 2021. Antigua was previously an assistant coach under John Calipari at the University of Kentucky. He is widely known as becoming the first Hispanic and the first non-black player for the Harlem Globetrotters in 52 years when he signed in 1995. After his retirement from playing professional basketball he was named an assistant coach at Pittsburgh, the University of Memphis, and the University of Kentucky. The 2015–16 Temple Owls basketball team represented Temple University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Owls, led by tenth year head coach Fran Dunphy, played their home games at the Liacouras Center and were members the American Athletic Conference. They finished the season with a record 21–12, 14–4 in AAC play to win the regular season championship. They defeated South Florida in the quarterfinals of the AAC tournament to advance to the semifinals where they lost to UConn. Malik Jahmal Fitts (born July 4, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for SIG Strasbourg of the LNB Élite. He played college basketball for the South Florida Bulls and the Saint Mary's Gaels. Early life Fitts grew up in Rancho Cucamonga, California and began playing basketball at the age of four, idolizing Kobe Bryant. He attended Damien High School.
