2016–17 Rhode Island Rams Women's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Rhode Island Rams women's basketball team represented the University of Rhode Island during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Rams, led by third year head coach Daynia La-Force. The Rams were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference and play their home games at the Ryan Center. They finished the season 6–24, 2–14 in A-10 to finish in last place. They lost in the first round of the A-10 women's tournament to Saint Joseph's. 2016–17 media All Rams home games and most non-televised conference road games televised were shown on the A-10 Digital Network. Daynia La-Force
Daynia La-Force is an American women's basketball coach. She spent 25 years coaching college women's basketball. In 2021, She was an assistant coach with the WNBA's Atlanta Dream. She played college basketball at the Georgetown University. In May 2014, she was hired as head coach of Rhode Island Rams women's basketball after head coaching stints at NCAA Division II, Division II University of New Haven and NCAA Division I, Division I Northeastern Huskies women's basketball, Northeastern University. She also served as an assistant coach at St. John's Red Storm women's basketball, St. John's and LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds women's basketball, LIU Brooklyn. An African American, La-Force became the first minority woman head coach in URI history when she was hired in May 2014. Her son Terance Mann played collegiately for Florida State Seminoles men's basketball, Florida State and currently plays for the NBA's Atlanta Hawks. Moore Catholic High School
Moore Catholic High School is an American private, Catholic school in the Bulls Head neighborhood of Staten Island, New York. It was founded by the Presentation Sisters of Staten Island in September 1962 and named for Mary Young Moore, a beneficiary to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, and was the first archdiocesan high school for girls on Staten Island. Moore became co-educational in September 1969, and the name was formally changed from Countess Moore High School to Moore Catholic High School in October 1978.
