2016–17 Newcastle United F.C. Season
The 2016–17 season was Newcastle United's second season in the 21st century to be played in the Championship, following their relegation from the Premier League. This season Newcastle United participated in the EFL Championship, EFL Cup and FA Cup. The season covers the period from 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017. On 24 April 2017, Newcastle secured promotion to the Premier League with a 4–1 victory over Preston North End. On 7 May, they clinched the Championship title with a 3–0 win against Barnsley, as Brighton conceded a late equaliser against Aston Villa. Karl Darlow
Karl Darlow (born 8 October 1990) is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club Leeds United and the Wales national team. Darlow is a product of the Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest academies and spent most of his career at Newcastle United, whilst also having time on loan at both Newport County and Walsall earlier in his career. The goalkeeper (sometimes written as goal-keeper, abbreviated as GK, keeper, keeps, or goalie) is a association football positions, position in association football. Rob Elliot
Robert Elliot (born 30 April 1986) is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. He was most recently the head coach of EFL League One side Crawley Town. Elliot also played for the Republic of Ireland national team. Elliot began his career with Erith Town, before joining Charlton Athletic's academy side. Whilst at Charlton, he was sent out on loan to Bishop's Stortford and Notts County, and also spent two loan spells at Accrington Stanley, where he was nicknamed "The Dilsh". Graham Carr
William Graham Carr (born 25 October 1944) is an English former professional footballer, manager and scout. He is currently an associate director for Northampton Town. Club career Carr, a half-back, joined his first professional club, Northampton Town in August 1962 and captained their reserve side before breaking into their first team. He played 27 times in Northampton's only season in the First Division. He moved to York City in June 1968 and then to Bradford Park Avenue in July 1969 where he was a regular in their final season in the Football League. After leaving Bradford he moved into non-league football with Altrincham and Telford United, with whom he won an FA Trophy winners medal in 1971. Simon Timothy Gordon Smith (born 16 September 1962) is an English former footballer who previously worked as the head goalkeeping coach for Newcastle United. Ian Cathro (born 11 July 1986) is a Scottish football coach and former player who is the head coach of Portuguese Primeira Liga club Estoril. Cathro was previously an assistant coach at Rio Ave, Valencia, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, and was briefly the head coach at Scottish Premiership club Hearts.
