The 2016–17 New Orleans Pelicans season was the 15th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Draft All of the players drafted by the Pelicans this season would wind up being traded elsewhere sometime during the season. On June 23, 2016, both David Michineau and Diamond Stone would be traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for the Clippers' own second round pick in the draft, which was Cheick Diallo, a promising power forward who was born and raised in Mali, but ultimately played for the University of Kansas for one season before entering the 2016 NBA draft. Alvin Gentry
Alvin Harris Gentry (born November 5, 1954) is an American professional basketball executive who is the vice president of basketball engagement for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA). A former basketball player and coach, Gentry has served as the head coach of six NBA teams. He served as an interim head coach for the Miami Heat at the end of the 1994–95 season, and later coached the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans and Kings. Omri Casspi
Omri Moshe Casspi (; born June 22, 1988) is an Israeli former professional basketball player. He mainly played at the small forward position, but also played at the power forward position. Casspi was drafted 23rd overall in the 2009 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings, making him the first Israeli to be selected in the first round of an NBA draft. With his Kings debut in 2009, Casspi became the first Israeli to play in a National Basketball Association game. DeMarcus Amir Cousins (born August 13, 1990) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Mets de Guaynabo of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional. Langston Arnold Galloway (born December 9, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for Trapani Shark of the Lega Basket Serie A. He played college basketball for the Saint Joseph's Hawks. Tyreke Jamir Evans (born September 19, 1989) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Broncos de Caracas of the Superliga Profesional de Baloncesto (SPB).
