2016–17 Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers men's basketball team represented Mount St. Mary's University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Mountaineers, led by fifth-year head coach Jamion Christian, played their home games at Knott Arena in Emmitsburg, Maryland as members of the Northeast Conference. They finished the season 20–16, 14–4 in NEC play to win the regular season championship, their first championship in 21 years. In the NEC tournament, they defeated Sacred Heart, Robert Morris, and Saint Francis (PA) to win the tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. As a No. 16 seed in the East region, they beat New Orleans in the First Four before losing in the first round to No. 1-seeded and ranked Villanova. Jamion Christian
Jamion Christian (born April 18, 1982) is an American basketball coach. He is currently the head coach of the Bryant Bulldogs men's basketball, Bryant Bulldogs men's basketball team. He previously was the head coach at Siena Saints men's basketball, Siena, Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers men's basketball, Mount St. Mary's, and George Washington Revolutionaries men's basketball, George Washington. He was also the head coach for Pallacanestro Trieste in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) from 2023 to 2025. Biography Christian was born and raised in Quinton, Virginia. As a shooting guard, he led New Kent High School to a Virginia High School League State Championship with a 26–0 record and earned the VHSL Group A State Player of the Year honors. Latri Kunda, Gambia
Latri Kunda (spelling variation: Latrikunda, name variant: Latri Kunda Yiringan Ya or Latrikunda Yiri Nganya) is part of the Kanifing District, and a suburb of Sere Kunda (or Serekunda) in The Gambia. The district is located in the center of Serekunda. In the 1993 census, Latri Kunda was listed as a separate town with 22,902 inhabitants. History and toponymy Latri Kunda takes its name from Lat Kumba Lô (full name: Latir Kumba Lô) — a Serer noble and friend of one of Sayerr Jobe's sons (founder of Sere Kunda) who was persuaded to move to the Gambia from Senegal in return for a piece of land. Fishburne Military School
Fishburne Military School (FMS) is a private, military boarding school for boys in Waynesboro, Virginia, United States. It was founded by James A. Fishburne in 1879 and is the oldest military high school in Virginia, and the 13th oldest in the Nation, still in operation today. History James Abbott Fishburne, born in Waynesboro, Virginia, was an honor graduate of Washington College. He taught at Horner Military Academy, Abingdon Male Academy, and several other schools, and also attended Union Theological Seminary for one semester. Inspired by Robert E. Lee, he opened what eventually was to be called Fishburne Military School in 1879 with 24 students. It was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1897.
