2016–17 Memphis Grizzlies Season
The 2016–17 Memphis Grizzlies season was the 22nd season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). On May 7, 2016, the Memphis Grizzlies fired Dave Joerger after the team was swept in the first round of the playoffs. On May 29, 2016, David Fizdale was hired as the head coach. The Grizzlies finished the regular season with a 43–39 record, securing the 7th seed. In the playoffs, they faced off against the San Antonio Spurs in the First Round, where they lost in six games. Following the season, Zach Randolph signed as a free agent with the Sacramento Kings, along with Vince Carter. Tony Allen also left the team following the season, signing with the New Orleans Pelicans as a free agent. Until the 2020-21 NBA season, this marked the last time the Grizzlies made the playoffs. David Fizdale
David Sean Fizdale (born June 16, 1974) is an American professional basketball coach who is an assistant coach for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He previously was an associate general manager for the Utah Jazz, an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, the head coach for the New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies, and was an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors and the Miami Heat. He won two championships with the Heat in 2012 and 2013. James Ennis (basketball)
James Alfred Ennis III (born July 1, 1990) is an American professional basketball player for Kagoshima Rebnise of the Japanese B.League. He played two years of college basketball for the Long Beach State 49ers men's basketball, Long Beach State 49ers, where he won the Big West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year, Big West Player of the Year in 2013. Wade Manson Baldwin IV (born March 29, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for Fenerbahçe Beko of the Turkish Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL) and the EuroLeague. Nickey Maxwell Van Exel (born November 27, 1971) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who last served as an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Keith Smart
Jonathan Keith Smart (born September 21, 1964) is an American collegiate basketball coach and former player. Playing career He is perhaps best remembered for hitting the game-winning shot in the 1987 NCAA championship game that gave the Indiana Hoosiers a 74–73 victory over the Syracuse Orangemen. He had transferred to Indiana from Garden City Community College in Kansas where he was a two-year standout and Jayhawk Conference Player of the Year. After two seasons at Indiana, Smart was signed by the San Antonio Spurs, with whom he played two games in the 1988–89 season. Robert Michael Bender (born April 28, 1957) is an American professional basketball coach, who last served an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association.
