2016–17 Hofstra Pride Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Hofstra Pride men's basketball team represented Hofstra University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Pride, led by fourth-year head coach Joe Mihalich, played their home games at Mack Sports Complex as members of the Colonial Athletic Association. They finished the season 15–17, 7–11 in CAA play to finish in a tie for seventh place. They lost in the first round of the CAA tournament to Delaware. Previous season The Pride finished the 2015–16 season 24–10, 14–4 in CAA play to finish in a tie for the CAA championship with UNC Wilmington. They advanced to the championship game of the CAA tournament where they lost to UNC Wilmington. Joe Mihalich
Joseph Anthony Mihalich (born August 29, 1956) is an American former college basketball coach and current Special Assistant to the Head Coach at La Salle University. Mihalich was previously the men's basketball head coach at Hofstra University from 2013–2021. Prior to that, he led Niagara to two NCAA tournaments, in 2005 and 2007, and three NIT Tournaments, in 2004, 2009 and 2013. He received the Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award in 2013. Career Assistant coach La Salle Mihalich spent 17 years, from 1981–1998, at his alma mater as an assistant coach under head coaches Dave “Lefty” Ervin and the legendary William “Speedy” Morris. Juan'ya Green (born February 8, 1992) is an American basketball player, most recently as a member of Al Sadd in the Qatari Basketball League. He completed his college career in 2016 after having split his career playing for Niagara University and Hofstra University. Green went unselected in the ensuing 2016 NBA draft. Cheshire Academy is a co-educational college preparatory school located in Cheshire, Connecticut, United States. Hampton Pirates Men's Basketball
The Hampton Pirates basketball team is the men's basketball team that represents Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, United States. The Pirates compete in the Coastal Athletic Association. The school's team formerly competed in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, and the Big South Conference. Hampton has appeared six times in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, most recently in 2016. Elijah Pemberton (born May 31, 1997) is an American professional basketball player who last played for MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).
