2016–17 FIU Panthers Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 FIU Panthers men's basketball team represented Florida International University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Panthers, led by fourth-year head coach Anthony Evans, played their home games at FIU Arena in Miami, Florida and were members of Conference USA. They finished the season 7–24, 3–15 in C-USA play to finish in 13th place. They failed to qualify for the C-USA tournament. Previous season The Panthers finished the 2015–16 season 13–19, 7–11 in C-USA play to finish in a three-way tie for ninth place. They lost in the second round of the C-USA tournament to UTEP. Anthony Evans (basketball)
Anthony Lemont Evans (born March 25, 1970) is an American college basketball coach and the former head men's basketball coach at FIU Panthers men's basketball, Florida International. Prior to FIU, he served as the head coach at Norfolk State University. Evans currently serves as Director of Player Development at UMass Minutemen basketball, UMass. Evans graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas College in 1994, where he had played guard for the men's basketball team. Playing career Evans played out his high school career at Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from Loughlin, he went on to attend SUNY Orange, Orange County CC in Middletown, NY where he was a two-year stand out for the Colts during the 1989–1990 & 1990–1991 seasons. He currently is 4th on the SUNY Orange all-time scoring list with 1,182 points. Tallahassee State College (TSC) is a public college in Tallahassee, Florida, United States. It is part of the Florida College System and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has accredited the school. Peak enrollment was fall 2014 when TSC reported 38,017 students. Auburndale High School
Auburndale High School is a four-year public high school located in Auburndale, Florida, United States, and a part of Polk County Public Schools. The school serves about 1,800 students from ninth through twelfth grades. In 2012, construction was completed on a new media center, added parking, centrally-located cafeteria, and new academic buildings. History Auburndale’s first official school opened in 1890 in a building on the corner of Main Street and Bridgers Avenue. Education for grades one through eight was offered, and less than 40 students were enrolled in the school. Longwood Lancers Men's Basketball
The Longwood Lancers men's basketball team is the Division I basketball team that represents Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. Since 2012, the team has competed in the Big South Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Their current head coach is Ronnie Thomas. The Lancers made their first appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2022, followed by another appearance in 2024.
