2016–17 Air Force Falcons Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Air Force Falcons men's basketball team represented the United States Air Force Academy during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Falcons, led by fifth-year head coach Dave Pilipovich, played their home games at the Clune Arena on the Air Force Academy's main campus in Colorado Springs, Colorado as members of the Mountain West Conference. They finished the season 12–21, 4–14 in Mountain West play to finish in a tie for tenth place. They defeated 2016–17 Wyoming Cowboys basketball team, Wyoming in the first round of the 2017 Mountain West Conference men's basketball tournament, Mountain West tournament to advance to the quarterfinals where they lost to 2016–17 Colorado State Rams men's basketball team, Colorado State. Dave Pilipovich
David Gabe Pilipovich (born January 28, 1964) is an American basketball coach. Pilipovich is an assistant coach at The University of New Mexico He played college basketball at Thiel Tomcats men's basketball, Thiel and has been a basketball coach since 1988. After five years as an assistant coach at the program, Pilipovich was head coach at the Air Force Falcons men's basketball, U.S. Air Force Academy from 2012 to 2020. Early life and education Pilipovich grew up in Duquesne, Pennsylvania and graduated from Duquesne City School District, Duquesne High School. At Thiel College, Pilipovich played basketball for four years and was a team captain as a senior. He graduated from Thiel in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Upper Arlington High School is the sole high school in the Upper Arlington City School District in Upper Arlington, Ohio, a northwest suburb of Columbus, Ohio. The U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School—usually referred to as "the Prep School" or "The P School"—was established in May 1961. The school's founder and first commander was Colonel Lee Charles Black. It is located on the campus of the United States Air Force Academy near the Community Center.
