The 2016–17 1. FSV Mainz 05 season is the 112th season in the football club's history and 8th consecutive and 11th overall season in the top flight of German football, the Bundesliga, having been promoted from the 2. Bundesliga in 2009. In addition to the domestic league, Mainz will also participate in this season's edition of the domestic cup, the DFB-Pokal. This will be the 6th season for the club in the Opel Arena, located in Mainz, Germany. The stadium has a capacity of 34,034. The season covers a period from 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017. Levin Mete Öztunalı (born 15 March 1996) is a German professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for 2. Bundesliga club Hamburger SV. Following seven years in the academy of Hamburger SV, Öztunalı made his senior debut with Bayer Leverkusen in 2013. He made 15 league appearances for the club before joining Werder Bremen on a season-and-a-half loan deal two years later. Danny Latza (born 7 December 1989) is a German footballer who plays as a midfielder for Regionalliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf II. Career Latza began his footballing career in 1995, at the age of five, as a youth player with his local team, DJK Arminia Ückendorf.
