2016 Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup
The 2016 Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup was the 15th edition of the annual women's volleyball tournament. It was held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from 2 July to 10 July. Twelve teams competed in the tournament, won by the Dominican Republic when they defeated 3–2 to Puerto Rico. The United States claimed the bronze medal and Dominican Republic athlete Brayelin Martínez was awarded Most Valuable Player. Gina Mambrú
Gina Altagracia Mambrú Casilla (born January 21, 1986, in Santo Domingo) is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, who played the 2012 Olympic Games and the 2014 World Championship ranking fifth in both competitions. She won the gold medal at the 2010 and 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games and bronze at the 2015 Pan American Games. Early life Altagracia used to be a ballet dancer before becoming a volleyball player for Los Cachorros club. Career Mambru played at the 2005 FIVB U20 Volleyball World Championship in Ankara, Turkey. Her team finished in 9th place. She played as opposite and wore the #16 jersey. Micha Danielle Hancock ( ; born November 10, 1992) is an American indoor volleyball player for the United States women's national volleyball team. Hancock played setter for the Penn State women's volleyball team, and won back-to-back national championships in 2013 and 2014. Hancock won gold with the national team at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. Career High school Hancock played volleyball for Edmond Memorial High School in Edmond, Oklahoma. Rhamat Alhassan (born September 7, 1996) is a volleyball player who played collegiately for the University of Florida. Early life Alhassan grew up in Glenarden, Maryland. She started playing basketball in seventh grade, and did not play volleyball until her sophomore year in high school, at The Academy of the Holy Cross in Kensington, Maryland. College Many schools were interested in her as an athlete, but most were interested in her basketball skills, which were more advanced than her volleyball skills. Her former basketball coach, Eddie Simpson, says she "is a better basketball player than she is a volleyball player", and Alhassan agrees. Madi Kingdon (born April 20, 1993) is an American indoor volleyball player. She is a member of LOVB Pro. She attended the University of Arizona, where she received both AVCA Indoor and AVCA Sand All-American honors.
