2016 Women's AHF Cup
The 2016 Women's AHF Cup was the fourth edition of the Women's AHF Cup, the quadrennial qualification tournament for the Women's Hockey Asia Cup organized by the Asian Hockey Federation. It was held from 1 to 9 October 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand. The top two teams qualified for the 2017 Women's Hockey Asia Cup. The hosts Thailand won their first AHF Cup title by defeating Singapore 4–0 in the final. The defending champions Chinese Taipei won the bronze medal by defeating Pakistan 4–1. Women's Hockey Asia Cup
The Women's Hockey Asia Cup is a women's international field hockey tournament organized by the Asian Hockey Federation. The winning team becomes the champion of Asia and qualifies for the FIH Hockey World Cup. Japan are the defending champions winning the 2022 edition. International Hockey Federation
The Fédération Internationale de Hockey (English: International Hockey Federation), commonly known by the acronym FIH, is the international governing body of field hockey and indoor field hockey. Its headquarters are in Lausanne, Switzerland. FIH is responsible for field hockey's major international tournaments, notably the Hockey World Cup. History FIH was founded on 7 January 1924 in Paris by Paul Léautey, who became the first president, in response to field hockey's omission from the programme of the 1924 Summer Olympics. First members complete to join the seven founding members were Austria, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, France, Hungary, Spain, and Switzerland. The 2017 Women's Hockey Asia Cup was the ninth edition of the Women's Hockey Asia Cup. It was held from 28 October to 5 November 2017 in Kakamigahara, Gifu, Japan. Pakistan Women's National Field Hockey Team
The Pakistan women's national field hockey team represents Pakistan in international field hockey competitions and is governed by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). History Beginnings (1970s–1990s) The first women's national championships were held in Lahore in 1976. It took another seven years (1983) before the national team played its first international matches, against Ireland, at Karachi and Lahore. Malaysia then visited Pakistan for a series of matches in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Tours by China (1985) and Zimbabwe (1986) followed in the following years. Pakistan won all these series.
