2016 SWAC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2016 SWAC men's basketball tournament is the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The tournament will be held from March 8–12, 2016 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas The champion will receive the conference's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA tournament. Seeds All 10 SWAC teams participated in the Tournament. Toyota Center is an indoor arena located in Houston, Texas, United States. It is named after the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota. The arena is home to the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA), and it was once the home of the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL), and the Houston Comets of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). 2015–16 Prairie View A&M Panthers Basketball Team
The 2015–16 Prairie View A&M Panthers basketball team represented Prairie View A&M University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Panthers, led by tenth year head coach Byron Rimm II, played their home games at the William Nicks Building and were members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 7–24, 7–11 in SWAC play to finish in sixth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the SWAC tournament to Jackson State. On January 27, 2016, following a 1–16 start to the season, head coach Byron Rimm II resigned. Assistant coach Byron Smith was named interim coach. SWAC Men's Basketball Tournament
The SWAC men's basketball tournament (popularly known as the SWAC tournament) is the conference championship tournament in basketball for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). The tournament has been held every year since 1978. It is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. The winner, declared conference champion, receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. On seven occasions, the SWAC champion has won an NCAA Division I tournament game (two being in the first round and five in preliminary rounds).
