2016 European Athletics Championships – Men's 100 Metres
The men's 100 metres at the 2016 European Athletics Championships took place at the Olympic Stadium on 6 and 7 July. The event consisted of three rounds, Preliminary, semi-final and final, with the top nine ranked athletes automatically entered at the semi-final stage. The gold and silver medallists clocked the same time in the final (10.07 seconds), the first time this has happened at these championships since the introduction of fully automatic timing. 2016 European Athletics Championships
The 2016 European Athletics Championships was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, between 6 and 10 July 2016. It was the first time the Netherlands hosted the event. Due to 2016 being an Olympic year, there was no racewalking and the marathon competition was replaced by half marathon. The Russian team did not participate due to the suspension of the All-Russia Athletic Federation by the International Association of Athletics Federations. However, Yuliya Stepanova was individually cleared by the IAAF to compete as an independent athlete; she participated in the European championships under the flag of the European Athletic Association. Filippo Tortu (born 15 June 1998) is an Italian Sprint (running), sprinter. He was the first Italian to break the 10-second barrier and is the second fastest Italian in the 100 metres after Marcell Jacobs. Ojie Edoburun (born 2 June 1996) is a British track and field sprint athlete who competes in the 100m and 200-meter dash events. Richard Kilty (born 2 September 1989, Middlesbrough) is a British sprinter who competes both Indoor and Outdoor across all the sprint events including 60 metres, 100 metres, 150 metres, and 200 metres. Ramil Guliyev
Ramil Guliyev (; born 29 May 1990) is an Azerbaijani-born Turkish sprinter. He competes in the 100 metres and 200 metres. At the 2017 World Championships, Guliyev became the World Champion in the 200 metres, winning Turkey's first ever gold medal in the World Championships. His club is Fenerbahçe Athletics. In 2018, he won the gold medal in the 200 metres at the European Championships. A single-elimination knockout, or sudden-death tournament is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of a match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament.
