The 2016 CIS Women's Ice Hockey Championship was held from March 17–20, 2016, in Calgary, Alberta. The bronze medal game between Saint Mary's and Guelph was held at the Joan Snyder Arena, while the remainder of the tournament was contested at Markin MacPhail Arena on the campus of the University of Calgary. U Sports Women's Ice Hockey
U Sports women's ice hockey is the highest level of play of women's ice hockey at the university level under the auspices of U Sports, Canada's governing body for university sports. Women's ice hockey has been played in U Sports since the 1997-98 season, when the governing body was known as the Canadian Interuniversity Athletics Union, following a long stint of teams only competing in the OUA. There are 35 teams, all of which are based in Canada, that are divided into four conferences that are eligible to compete for the year-end championship. As these players compete at the university level, they are obligated to follow the rule of standard eligibility of five years. Kelty Apperson
Kelty Apperson (born October 26, 1994) is a Canadian ice hockey forward, currently affiliated with the Calgary chapter of the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA). She won the Clarkson Cup with the Calgary Inferno in 2019. Career Apperson served as captain for the St. Thomas (Canada) Tommies women's ice hockey program represting St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick, a member of the Atlantic University Sport regional association of U Sports. Katelyn Gosling
Katelyn Gosling (born May 8, 1993) is a Canadian women's ice hockey player. Having earned Canadian Interuniversity Sport All-Canadian honours while competing for the Western Mustangs women's ice hockey program, Gosling was claimed by the Calgary Inferno in the 2016 CWHL Draft. She would also compete with Canada's national team at the Winter Universiade, serving as Canada's captain at the 2017 tournament. Western Mustangs Women's Ice Hockey
The Western Mustangs women's ice hockey team represents the University of Western Ontario Western Mustangs and competes in the Ontario University Athletics conference, which participates nationally in the U Sports athletic program. The Mustangs play at Thompson Arena in London, Ontario.
