The 2016 Big South women's basketball tournament is an upcoming postseason women's basketball tournament for the Big South Conference that will take place March 10–13, 2015, at the Kimmel Arena in Asheville, North Carolina. Kimmel Arena
Kimmel Arena is the home of the UNC Asheville Bulldogs basketball programs, both men and women's. It is a 3,200-seat arena located on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Asheville in Asheville, North Carolina. Kimmel Arena, named for local businessman Joe Kimmel, is part of the much larger Wilma M. Sherrill Center, which is a facility. Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick
Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick Brown (born June 21, 1978) is an American college basketball coach. Since 2022, she has been the head coach for the East Tennessee State Buccaneers women's basketball team. Career She was previously the head coach of the University of North Carolina at Asheville women's basketball team from 2012 to 2020. Brenda, now going by her married name, Mock Brown, was named head coach at East Tennessee State on August 8, 2022. As a student-athlete, Mock graduated from Tuscola High School in 1996. 2016 Big South Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2016 Big South men's basketball tournament was held from March 3-6, 2016, at the Pope Convocation Center in Buies Creek, North Carolina on the campus of Campbell University. UNC Asheville won the tournament and received the Big South's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA tournament. Site Coastal Carolina was originally scheduled to host the basketball tournament for a fourth consecutive year, but, on August 30, 2015, the school announced that they would be joining the Sun Belt Conference effective July 1, 2016. Big South bylaws state that member schools leaving the conference with less than two years notice are not eligible to host championships. Seeds All 11 conference teams were eligible for the tournament. The top five teams received a first round bye. Teams were seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. 2015–16 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Season
The 2015–16 NCAA Division I women's basketball season began in November and ended with the Final Four in Indianapolis, April 3–5. Practices officially began on October 3. This season of NCAA women's basketball games was the first to be played in 10-minute quarters, the standard for FIBA and WNBA play.
