2016 AFC U-23 Championship
The 2016 AFC U-23 Championship (also known as the 2016 AFC U-23 Asian Cup) was the second edition of the AFC U-23 Championship, the biennial international age-restricted association football, football championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's under-23 national teams of Asia. The tournament was held in Qatar between 12–30 January 2016. A total of 16 teams compete in the tournament. The tournament was also renamed from the "AFC U-22 Championship" to the "AFC U-23 Championship". For the first time, the AFC U-23 Championship acted as the AFC qualifiers for the Football at the Summer Olympics, Olympic football tournament, replacing the previous process of home-and-away Olympic qualifiers. 2016 AFC U-23 Championship Qualification
The 2016 AFC U-23 Championship qualification was a men's under-23 association football, football competition which decided the participating teams of the 2016 AFC U-23 Championship. Players born on or after 1 January 1993 were eligible to compete in the tournament. A total of 16 teams qualified to play in the final tournament, including Qatar national under-23 football team, Qatar who qualified automatically as hosts. Ahmed Alaaeldin
Ahmed Alaaeldin Abdelmotaal (Arabic: أحمد علاء الدين عبد المتعال; born 31 January 1993), simply known as Ahmed Alaaeldin or Alaa, is a professional footballer who plays for Al-Arabi, on loan from Al-Gharafa. Born in Egypt, he plays for the Qatar national team. Personal Alaaeldin arrived in Qatar when he was 10 years old. His father, an Egyptian civil engineer, brought his family to Qatar in 2003. Club career Alaaeldin began his professional career with Al-Rayyan SC in 2010. In July 2017, he joined Al-Gharafa SC. He scored in the 2011 AFC Champions League game against Emirates Club. Al-Arabi Sports Club () is a Qatari sports club based in the capital city Doha. Founded in 1952, the most prominent team of the club is the Association football, football team that competes in the Qatar Stars League. The club's home ground is the 44,400-seat Al Thumama Stadium, where they have played since 2023. The Grand Hamad Stadium (), also known as the Al–Arabi Sports Club Stadium, Al-Arabi SC Stadium or Al-Arabi Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Doha, Qatar. Al-Duhail Sports Club (), formerly Lekhwiya SC, is a Qatari sports club, best known for its football team, which plays in the Qatar Stars League. The club is based in the Duhail district in the city of Doha and plays its home games at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium. The Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, formerly known as Duhail Stadium, is a football stadium in Doha, Qatar. History The construction of the stadium started in 2011 and was completed by February 2013.
