2015–16 Western Illinois Leathernecks Men's Basketball Team
The 2015–16 Western Illinois Leathernecks men's basketball team represented Western Illinois University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Leathernecks, led by second year head coach Billy Wright, played their home games at Western Hall and were members of The Summit League. They finished the season 10–17, 3–13 in Summit League play to finish in last place. They failed to qualify for The Summit League tournament. Billy Wright (basketball)
William Eugene Wright Jr. (born September 15, 1974) is an American basketball coach, currently head coach at Richmond High School in Richmond, Indiana. He was most recently head coach at Western Illinois University. He was recently hired by his high school alma mater Richmond High School to become the head coach of the men’s basketball team. 2015–16 Wisconsin Badgers Men's Basketball Team
The 2015–16 Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team represented the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was Bo Ryan's 15th season as head coach at Wisconsin, before he resigned 12 games into the season. On December 15, 2015, Ryan announced he would retire effective immediately leaving associate head coach Greg Gard as interim head coach. The team played their home games at the Kohl Center and were members of the Big Ten Conference. They finished the season 22–13, 12–6 in 2015–16 Big Ten Conference men's basketball season, Big Ten play to finish in a four-way tie for third place in conference. Brandon Gilbeck (born December 9, 1996) is an American-Taiwanese professional basketball player for the Formosa Dreamers of the Taiwan Professional Basketball League (TPBL). He played college basketball for Western Illinois. High school career Gilbeck played basketball for River Valley High School in Spring Green, Wisconsin. As a senior, he averaged 17.4 points, 10.7 rebounds and 3.9 blocks per game. Gilbeck was named Wisconsin Division 5 All-State Honorable Mention and graduated as his school's all-time leader in blocks. College career Gilbeck played for Western Illinois for four years. As a sophomore, he set a single-season school record with 85 blocks and ranked fourth in the NCAA Division I with three blocks per game.
