2015–16 West Virginia Mountaineers Men's Basketball Team
The 2015–16 West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball team represented West Virginia University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Mountaineers were coached by ninth year head coach Bob Huggins and played their home games at WVU Coliseum. They were members of the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season 26–9, 13–5 in Big 12 play to finish in second place. They defeated TCU and Oklahoma to advance to the championship game of the Big 12 tournament where they lost to Kansas. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where, as a #3 seed, they were upset in the first round by #14 seed Stephen F. Austin. Bob Huggins
Robert Edward Huggins (born September 21, 1953), nicknamed "Huggy Bear", is an American college basketball coach. He was the head coach at Walsh, Akron, Cincinnati, Kansas State, and West Virginia. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022. Huggins is the sixth men's college basketball coach with 900 or more career victories. He has been to 24 total NCAA tournaments, including 23 in the last 26 seasons. He has led his teams to nine Sweet Sixteen appearances, four Elite Eight appearances (3 at Cincinnati and 1 at West Virginia University), and two Final Four appearances (1992 with Cincinnati and 2010 with West Virginia). Juwan Staten
Juwan Marquez Staten (born May 21, 1992) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Maine Celtics of the NBA G League. He played for his hometown school, the University of Dayton, through his freshman year at college. Staten later led West Virginia in points, assists, field goal percentage, and steals during the 2013–14 season. High school career Staten was known as one of the better athletes coming out of Oak Hill Academy, a school that is famed for producing several excellent basketball players. He helped the Warriors claim the best ranking in the state with a perfect undefeated home record. During his junior year, Staten represented Thurgood Marshall High School, whom he also led to an exceptional record along with tremendous success in the state tournament. Marshall Thundering Herd Men's Basketball
The Marshall Thundering Herd men's basketball team represents Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, United States. They compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA Division I (NCAA), Division I as a member of the Sun Belt Conference. The Thundering Herd are led by head coach Cornelius Jackson and play their home games at the on-campus Cam Henderson Center which opened in 1981. Kevin Noreen
Kevin Noreen (born 1992) is an American basketball player from Minnesota. Noreen played high school basketball at Minnesota Transitions Charter School and broke the state scoring record with an unofficial career total of 4,086 points. In his senior year, he also led the team to the 2010 Class A state championship in Minnesota; he led all scorers in the championship game against Sebeka High School with 24 points, and was named to the All-Tournament team.
