2015–16 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2015–16 West Coast Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2015 and ended with the 2016 West Coast Conference men's basketball tournament at the Orleans Arena March 4–8, 2016 in Paradise, Nevada. The regular season began in November, with the conference schedule starting at the end of December. This was the 65th season for WCC men's basketball, and the 27th under its current name of "West Coast Conference". The conference was founded in 1952 as the California Basketball Association, became the West Coast Athletic Conference in 1956, and dropped the word "Athletic" in 1989. NCAA Division I
NCAA Division I (D-I) is the highest division of intercollegiate athletics sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States, which accepts players globally. D-I schools include the major collegiate athletic powers, with large budgets, more elaborate facilities and more athletic scholarships than Division II and Division III as well as many smaller schools committed to the highest level of intercollegiate competition. 2015–16 San Francisco Dons Men's Basketball Team
The 2015–16 San Francisco Dons men's basketball team represented the University of San Francisco during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. It was head coach Rex Walters eighth season at San Francisco. The Dons played their home games at the War Memorial Gymnasium and were members of the West Coast Conference. They finished the season 15–15, 8–10 in WCC play to finish in fifth place. Eric Wendell Reveno (born March 12, 1966) is an American college basketball coach who is the men's associate head coach for the Stanford Cardinal of the Atlantic Coast Conference and was the former head men's basketball coach at Portland. He was named the West Coast Conference coach of the year for the 2008–09 season after a third-place finish in conference. Marty Wilson (basketball)
Lamar "Marty" Wilson (born October 17, 1966) is an American college basketball coach, who most recently served as an assistant coach at UC Berkeley. Wilson previously served as head coach at his alma mater Pepperdine University. Playing career As a player at Pepperdine, Wilson ended his career in fifth place on the all-time assists list with 342 (he still ranks ninth). Under head coach Jim Harrick, Wilson was a backup point guard in 1984–85 and 1985–86, and the Waves advanced to the NCAA Tournament both seasons. A back injury sidelined Wilson for the entire 1986–87 campaign, but he took over as the starting point guard in 1987–88. Mike Dunlap
Michael Gregory Dunlap (born May 27, 1957) is an American professional basketball coach who is the head coach for the Colorado Mesa Mavericks men's basketball team. He is the former head coach of the National Basketball Association's Charlotte Bobcats, and also worked as an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks during their most recent NBA championship. Mark Norman Few (born December 27, 1962) is an American college basketball coach who has been the head coach at Gonzaga University since 1999. He has served on Gonzaga's coaching staff since 1989, and has led the Bulldogs from mid-major obscurity to consistent NCAA tournament contenders. During his tenure as head coach, Few has led the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament every season (except 2019–20, when the team had secured an automatic bid but the tournament was canceled), a stretch that has garnered the Bulldogs recognition as a major basketball power despite playing in a mid-major conference. David Jack Rose (born December 19, 1957) is an American college basketball coach and the former head coach of Brigham Young University's (BYU) men's basketball team. A graduate of Northbrook High School in Houston, Texas, Rose played two years at Dixie College in St. George, Utah, later becoming coach at the school. Rose then became co-captain of "Phi Slama Jama," the University of Houston's college basketball squad featuring Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon that finished as national runner-up in the 1983 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament.
