2015–16 UConn Huskies Men's Basketball Team
The 2015–16 UConn Huskies men's basketball team represented the University of Connecticut in the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Huskies were led by fourth-year head coach Kevin Ollie. The Huskies split their home games between the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut, and the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion on the UConn campus in Storrs, Connecticut. The Huskies were members of the American Athletic Conference. They finished the season 25–11, 11–7 in American Athletic play to finish in sixth place. UConn defeated Cincinnati, Temple, and Memphis to be champions of the American Athletic tournament. They received an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where they defeated Colorado in the Round of 64 before losing to Kansas in the Round of 32. Kevin Ollie
Kevin Jermaine Ollie (born December 27, 1972) is an American basketball coach and former player who most recently was the interim head coach for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is the former head coach of the University of Connecticut men's basketball team and one of only four African-American coaches to ever win an NCAA men's basketball championship. Ollie graduated from UConn in 1995 with a degree in communications. He played for twelve NBA franchises, most prominently in three stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, in thirteen seasons from 1997 to 2010 after beginning his career with the CBA in 1995. After retiring from professional basketball in 2010, Ollie joined UConn as an assistant coach; in 2012 he was promoted to head coach following the retirement of Jim Calhoun (who coached Ollie when he was a player). The 2015–16 Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team represented the University of Kansas in the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, which is the Jayhawks 118th basketball season. The Jayhawks played their home games at Allen Fieldhouse. They were led by 13th year head coach Bill Self and were members of the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season 33–5, 15–3 in Big 12 play to win their 12th consecutive regular season Big 12 title. They defeated Kansas State, Baylor, and West Virginia to be champions of the Big 12 tournament. They received an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where they were the tournament's overall #1 seed. The Cal State Northridge Matadors men's basketball team is the men's college basketball program representing California State University, Northridge. The team currently competes in the Big West Conference of the NCAA's Division I. The Matadors' current head coach is Andy Newman. History Until 1972, the school and its teams were known as San Fernando Valley State College. The Matadors played their home games at local high schools until Matador Gymnasium was completed, before the start of the 1962–63 season. 2015 NBA Draft
The 2015 NBA draft was held on June 25, 2015, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It was televised nationally in the U.S. by ESPN. National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including international players. The draft lottery took place on May 19, 2015. The Minnesota Timberwolves won the draft lottery to earn the first overall pick in the draft. Ryan Jamar Boatright (born December 27, 1992) is an American and naturalized Armenian professional basketball player for Brillantes del Zulia of the Superliga Profesional de Baloncesto. He has also represented the Armenian national basketball team in international competition. He completed his college career at UConn Huskies men's basketball, University of Connecticut in 2015.
