2015–16 UCF Knights Women's Basketball Team
The 2015–16 UCF Knights women's basketball team represented the University of Central Florida during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I basketball season. The Knights competed in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the American Athletic Conference (The American). The Knights, in the program's 39th season of basketball, were led by ninth-year head coach Joi Williams, and played their home games at the CFE Arena on the university's main campus in Orlando, Florida. They finished the season 7–23, 4–14 in AAC play to finish in a tie for ninth place. They lost in the first round of the American Athletic women's tournament to SMU. On March 7, 2016, following UCF's third consecutive first round loss in the conference tournament, Joi Williams was fired after serving as head coach for 9 years. Joi Williams
Joi Williams (born November 5, 1966) is the former head coach of the UCF Knights women's basketball team. Career Williams arrived at UCF in 2007 and during her tenure, she has taken the Knights to two C-USA championships. As of March 7, 2016, Williams and the school agreed to part ways. Montverde Academy is a private college preparatory school in Montverde, Florida, United States, located in the Greater Orlando area. The school is widely known for its athletic programs, particularly soccer and basketball. History The school was founded in 1912 as Montgomery Industrial School. The school president was Henry P. Carpenter. It underwent a major expansion in 1921, when two new buildings were built for a cost of almost $40,000, including a concrete block dormitory for 200 boys and a new dining hall. It resulted from a merger of the whites-only Summerlin Institute and Union Academy, a school for African Americans, after desegregation. Strawberry Crest High School is a public high school in East Hillsborough County, Florida. It opened on August 25, 2009 with students from Armwood High School, Durant High School and Plant City High School. It was built to relieve the over-population of the students in these high schools.
